Invited candidates had work experience in one of the six tech jobs.

Ontario held a PNP draw on October 27th and invited 1406 Express Entry candidates.

The candidates invited for this draw had a professional background in tech and may be eligible for Ontario’s Express Entry Human Capital Priorities Stream. They also needed a CRS score between 455 and 467 points along with a complete profile in the Express Entry System.

The candidates also needed one year of work experience in one of the following occupations:

  • Computer and information systems managers (NOC 0213);
  • Computer engineers (NOC 2147);
  • Database analysts and data administrators (NOC 2172);
  • Software engineers and designers (NOC 2173);
  • Computer programmer and interactive media developers (NOC 2174); or
  • Web designers and developers (NOC 2175).

According to the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) webpage, work experience is an essential requirement. Invited candidates also need to submit an Educational Credential Assessment (HYPERLINK). This is necessary for the OINP to verify if the candidate’s education is equivalent to a Canadian bachelor’s degree or higher.

Candidates who have received an invitation from this draw, now have 45 calendar days to submit their application for Ontario’s Provincial Nominee Program (PNP). Ontario nominated candidates will also get an additional 600 CRS points as per the norms of  provincial nominations from any Express Entry-aligned PNP. This will ensure that successful candidates will receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) in a subsequent round of invitations.

Ontario held its first tech job oriented draw in February this year. They had invited more than 1100 candidates in that draw. This year’s October draw was the second such draw held by Ontario.

In 2020, Ontario used the Human Capital Priorities Stream to nominate 1996 Express Entry candidates. 20% of the nominations went to candidates with work experience or job offers as software engineers, computer programmers, interactive media developers and other skilled workers.
