The Ontario province, located in central Canada, is the most preferred destination for new immigrants to Canada. The province is home to both Toronto, Canada’s economic centre, and Ottawa, the nation’s capital.
Ontario province is located in the central-eastern part of Canada. Ontario is one of the most active province in Canada. It has produced a nexus of economic, social, and political opportunities for all.
Ontario’s economy is broad, with the primary exports being automobiles, equipment, and electrical parts. Most major automakers, including Chrysler, Ford, and Honda, produce their vehicles here.
Mining has been an economic element for more than 130 years, supplying the world with over 30 different types of metals and minerals. The province’s various rivers have generated several opportunities in the hydroelectric energy sector, with the majority of the country’s electricity coming from here.
Southern Ontario, particularly along the scenic Niagara Peninsula, provides ideal land for the successful development of small grains and fruit farming.
The province is home to different categories of Provincial Nomination Programs (PNPs) designed to recruit and retain immigrants in areas that would benefit the province: skilled workers, employees in labor-shortage industries, entrepreneurs, and investors.
Prospective immigrants with the necessary skills and experience may be eligible for a provincial nomination under Ontario’s Provincial Nominee Program, formally known as the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP). The OINP is a set of immigration channels that allow immigrants to become permanent citizens of Canada.
The Ontario province has three immigration channels.
1) Ontario Human Capital
Ontario Human Capital refers to a variety of immigration streams that seek applicants for Ontario’s labour force. The Human Capital streams highlight talents, abilities, or experiences that indicate a foreign national might readily enter the Ontario labour force. Those with employment or educational experience in Ontario, fluency in both English and French, and competitive Express Entry profiles may find success in one of these streams –
- Human Capital Priorities – Express Entry:
This is one of the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program’s (OINP) Human Capital streams . Human Capital Priorities employs a merit-based method to identify highly qualified skilled individuals from the federal Express Entry pool who will be long-term members of Ontario’s workforce.
- French-Speaking Skilled Worker – Express Entry:
Candidates from the Express Entry pool who exhibit competence in both English and French and the capacity to contribute to the province’s workforce as skilled employees are invited to apply for this stream.
To be qualified for the stream, an applicant must be registered in one of the two Express Entry programs: Federal Skilled Worker (FSW) or Canadian Experience Class (CEC).
Foreign nationals cannot apply directly to the program because it is solely through invitation.
- Skilled Trades – Express Entry:
This stream provides provincial nominations to skilled tradespeople who have active Express Entry profiles, live in Ontario, and have Ontario work experience in a skilled trade. This path corresponds to the federal Express Entry immigration system. An applicant must have an active profile in the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) program under Express Entry to be eligible for the stream. Foreign nationals cannot apply directly to the program because it is solely through invitation.
- Masters Graduate:
This stream is intended for recent master’s degree recipients from an approved Ontario university who want to live and work in Ontario.
- PhD Graduate:
This stream is intended for recent graduates with PhD degrees from an Ontario university who want to live and work in Ontario.
2) Ontario Employer Job Offer
Applicants with a legitimate work offer from an Ontario firm have immigration possibilities through the Ontario Employer Job Offer streams. To be considered genuine, both the employer and the work must satisfy specific standards. In addition, depending on which stream the applicant wishes to apply through, the applicant must fulfill specific qualifying conditions.
This stream is further subdivided into –
- Foreign Worker:
This stream is intended for foreign nationals who have skilled work experience and a verifiable employment offer from an Ontario company. A foreign national must have a legitimate work offer from an Ontario business in order to qualify for the Ontario Foreign Worker stream. The employment offer must be for a full-time position that pays at or above the Ontario median wage for that occupation. The job must be at National Occupational Classification (NOC) Skill Levels 0, A, or B.
- International Student with a Job Offer:
This program is designed for foreign nationals who have finished a Canadian educational certification and have a job offer from an Ontario firm. A foreign national must have a verifiable work offer from an Ontario business to be eligible for this stream. The employment offer must be for a full-time work that pays at or above the low wage level in Ontario for that occupation. The job must be at National Occupational Classification (NOC) Skill Levels 0, A, or B.

The employment offer must be for a full-time position that pays at or above the Ontario median wage for that occupation. The job must be one of OINP’s In-Demand Occupations.
